SCHEDULE

• 1:00PM - SHORT STORIES ON FILM
Captivating and riveting short films from celebrated and rising writer-directors. In "Haber" (Dir. Daniel Ragussis) a brilliant German chemist becomes the Father of Chemical Warfare. With "Immersion" (Dir. Richard Levien) a young immigrant from Mexico faces the struggles of education. In the celebrated Russian claymation "KuyGorozh" (Dir. Sergey Merinov), an older couple experiences rags, riches, and the consequences of greed. (62 minutes TRT)

• 3:00PM - FANTASTIC MR. FOX
"'Fantastic Mr. Fox' is visionary director Wes Anderson’s first animated film, utilizing classic handmade stop motion techniques to tell the story of the best selling children’s book by Roald Dahl (author of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "James and the Giant Peach"). Mr. and Mrs. Fox (George Clooney and Meryl Streep) live an idyllic home life with their son Ash (Jason Schwartzman) and visiting young nephew Kristopherson (Eric Anderson). But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox’s wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers — Boggis, Bunce and Bean — who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr. Fox at any cost." (Dir. Wes Anderson, 93 min. USA, 2009)

• 5:00PM - 1000 JOURNALS
Director Andrea Kreuzhage in person
"1000 Journals is a film about people whose lives are touched by 1000 traveling journals. These blank journals were released into the world in the summer of 2000, by Someguy, a San Francisco based artist. Some people found a journal, or got it from a friend or stranger. Some signed up on the web and received it in the mail. Some wrote in them, others doodled, pasted in photographs, or added artworks. Some kept them. Some passed them on. There are no rules, and no one really monitors these journals and their movements. And yet, they are connecting tens of thousands of people worldwide, provoking and inspiring them. In September 2003, one of the 1000, number 526, returned to Someguy, filled. What happened to the other 999? This film tells their stories. 1000 Journals shares the experience of their worldwide journeys, and chronicles the self-governed collaboration of thousands of random people who have added to this global message in a bottle." (Dir. Andrea Kreuzhage; 88 min.; USA, Italy, Croatia, France, Australia, The Netherlands; 2007)

• 8:00PM - THE CALL OF THE WILD
Spotlight Film - Free Admission for the Community
"John Thornton (Charlton Heston) a prospector in the 1897 Klondike Gold Rush is trying to eke out a living in the harsh conditions of the bitterly cold Yukon region of Canada, with Buck the German Shepherd dog he befriends. Thornton struggles against unscrupulous rivals and natural hazards in the extreme conditions and is greatly helped by Buck who has his own story to tell: he was abducted from a family home and taken north to become a working sled dog. Man and dog forge a true bond of friendship, working together to survive life in the treacherous frozen North." (Dir. Ken Annakin, 100 min., United Kingdom, 1972)
