Part of SJFS World Cinema Series: The San Joaquin Film Society opens its invigorating Spring 2010 season with the 2nd Annual French Cinema Days, an illuminating SJFS World Cinema Series and captivating rendez-vous with new, celebrated, and award-winning works from France and beyond! Featuring: the New French Shorts 2010 program with new short-length films from emerging and seasoned artists making international and American premieres; a special screening of Philippe Lioret's 10-time French Academy Award-nominated drama "Welcome"; the Spotlight film presentation of "The Girl on the Train" - a captivating drama from master director André Téchiné; and the honorable presence of emerging French writer-director, Cédric Prévost, our guest artist who will fly in from Paris to join us for these two spectacular cinematic days!

Part of SJFS World Cinema Series: The San Joaquin Film Society, in association with the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library, celebrates the National Endowment for the Arts' THE BIG READ with Cinema and Literacy Day, a unique SJFS World Cinema Series celebrating the power of storytelling through film arts and reading. Featuring: the Spotlight Film presentation of director Ken Annakin's classic cinematic adaptation of Jack London's "The Call of the Wild" starring starring Charlton Heston; a special screening of Wes Anderson's internationally-celebrated adaptation of Roald Dahl's "Fantastic Mr. Fox" featuring the voice talents of George Clooney and Meryl Streep; and the global phenomenon "1000 Journals", with the presence of international director, Andrea Kreuzhage, our guest artist..
