French Cinema Day

about french cinema day

The San Joaquin Film Society presents French Cinema Day, an illuminating SJFS Global Cinema Series, featuring new, celebrated, and award-winning works from French and international filmmakers sharing contemporary experiences, historical events, insightful perspectives and innovative creations.

France, a nation rich with cinematic tradition will be celebrated with stories of family, romance, friendship, cultural exchange, globalization, history, coming-of-age, and ethical issues.

French Cinema Day will present: two New French Shorts programs featuring the works of new filmmakers; a special screening of Claude Miller's award-winning drama "A Secret"; and the Day will close with the 2009 (César) French Academy Award-winning film "The Beaches of Agnés" - the magnificent autobiography of Agnés Varda - as the Spotlight Film.
