about jewish cinema day

The San Joaquin Film Society presents Jewish Cinema Day, an SJFS Global Cinema Series, featuring spectacular new works from American and International Jewish filmmakers, celebrating and sharing contemporary and historical Jewish experiences through unparalled cinematic storytelling. Four captivating exhibitions will showcase three feature films and one short films program, with eclectic stories of family, romance, friendship, cultural exchange, globalization, history, coming-of-age, and ethical issues.

Jewish Cinema Day will present the return of "El Brindis (To Life)," a favorite from the 2nd San Joaquin International Film Festival, the powerful documentary drama "Blessed is the Match: The Life and Death of Hannah Senesh," and New Jewish Short Films, a special program of five new short films from American, German, and Israeli filmmakers, featuring the 2009 Oscar®-winning "Toyland" along with rare works making national and international premieres!

Jewish Film Day will close with the Northern California Premiere of the unforgettable Spotlight Film and family comedy "Beau Jest," starring acclaimed actress Lainie Kazan and company.

Jewish Cinema Day was curated by Sophoan Sorn.
