2008 SAN JOAQUIN FILM FESTIVAL TO BE HELD AT BOB HOPE (FOX) THEATRE, FAYE SPANOS CONCERT HALL, THE HAGGIN MUSEUM

Stockton, California, USA - San Joaquin Cross-Cultural Media (SJCCM) is proud to announce three historic venues for The First San Joaquin Film Festival 2008 in the city of Stockton:

- Opening Night will be held at the Bob Hope (Fox California) Theatre on Thursday, June 4, 2008
- A family festival at The Haggin Museum on Saturday, June 7, 2008
- Grand Finale at the Faye Spanos Concert Hall at University of the Pacific on Sunday, June 8, 2008

Other theaters and cultural institutions, along with other events across the city, will be revealed.

The First San Joaquin Film Festival... will be an international festival to take place in the City of Stockton, California, U.S.A. from June 4 to June 8, 2008. Stockton is represented by over 75 ethnic and language groups, at the heart of the world's breadbasket - the Central Valley. Festival events and programs include an Opening Night Gala, international film competition and showcases, world premieres, local filmmakers showcase, specialized media symposia, local short films competition, and a Grand Finale awards ceremony.

STOCKTON ARTS COMMISSION ANNOUNCES GRANT RECIPIENTS

STOCKTON – Recipients of 2007-2008 City Arts Endowment Grants were recognized at the Stockton City Council meeting Tuesday, July 10, 2007.

Individual artists receiving funds through the Stockton Arts Commission for upcoming projects include Erahm Christopher, Sophoan Sorn and John Vaughn. Arts organizations receiving grants include Dance for Power, Hivu Nui Polynesian Dance Group, KUDOS Children’s Theatre, New Dance Company, St. John’s Chamber Orchestra, Stockton Symphony, Tidewater Art Gallery and the Valley Concert Band. Additional organizations and events receiving funding for arts-related projects include the California Transplant Donor Network, Downtown Stockton Alliance and Family Day in the Park.

The City Arts Endowment, which is administered by the Stockton Arts Commission, was established by the City Council in 2000 to support projects and events developed by local artists, educators and arts organizations. Approximately $50,000 has been awarded annually.
