The San Joaquin Film Society is the benchmark film organization of the Central Valley, bringing the world's best, rarest, and newest works in cinema arts and media discoveries to the Valley. These are the arts, cultural and educational programs of the Film Society.

San Joaquin International Film Festival
Since 1998, the San Joaquin International Film Festival (SJIFF), the annual flagship festival of the San Joaquin Film Society and California Central Valley's leading festival of cinema, is: a selection of new, innovative, and award-winning works from emerging talents and seasoned artists from around the world - along with educational programming, guest artists, locally-made films, and programs for all ages. The 4th San Joaquin International Film Festival will place January 12th-14th, 2012 at the Stockton Empire Theatre on the Miracle Mile, and January 15th at Janet Leigh Theatre on the campus of University of the Pacific.

World Cinema Series
The Society leads a premier year-round roster with its acclaimed World Cinema Series. The year-round Series features stellar collections of new, innovative, celebrated, diverse, significant and rare works in focused programs. These cinematic and multi-faceted programmes immerse audiences into the world of gifted filmmakers, with a delightful and diverse collection of new works, significant films, and discoveries.

San Joaquin Children's Film Festival
Part of the Film Society's World Cinema Series: The 2009 San Joaquin Children's Film Festival (inaugurated January 16 to 18, 2009), the Valley's film festival for kids of all ages. SJCFF 2009 featured the California Premiere of "Azur and Asmar," with special events including a young filmmakers' workshop and guest artists.

Film Benefit
The Film Benefit program is unique collaboration with select local cultural and community organizations, to support their important endeavors by raising funds for them through the screenings of innovative new films.

Film Society Award Honorees
At its annual flagship, the San Joaquin International Film Festival, the Society honors film makers, innovators, and artists with awards celebrating their contribution to the art, culture, and importance of cinema.
Ambassador Award
The Ambassador Award honors an exemplary talent connected with the local community - who endeavors to: promote cross-cultural appreciation; catalyze the creative arts; to utilize the power of film; and to contribute to the quality of life for the greater community and beyond, through film and media.

Education
The educational programs of the Film Society:
• Post-show Q&A's with visiting directors, producers, and filmmakers bring first-hand experiences to educate and entertain. These special events will expose students to the power of global cinema and to be inspired and meet industry professionals.
• The Compassion for Humanity Initiative, an on-going educational campaign to advance, promote and support social consciousness, social justice, activism and humanity through film.
• Youth Video Vision (YVV) - Empowering youth through the art of filmmaking, multi-media education, cultural appreciation, community advocacy, and mentoring.
