SYNOPSIS
A department security guard spends his days observing others, including a young bookstore clerk with whom he is secretly in love with. He watches her via the store's video monitoring system and looks for ways to connect with her on the commuting line they share. Then one evening she appears on the train with another guy...

DIRECTOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Born 1971, Reto Caffi grew up in Bern, Switzerland. During 1992 to 1998, he studied English Literature and Journalism at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. After graduation, he spent several years working as a film journalist for print, radio, and Swiss National Television SFTV (2001 to 2004). In 2004, he wrote and directed "Oeschenen" a TV movie on SFTV. His short films have won over 30 awards at festivals around the world, and have been released theatrically and on television. During 2004 to 2007, he continued with post-graduate studies at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany. "On the Line" is his diploma film.
